eBay, Google Shaking Hands again

Recently eBay pulled its hands off Google Adwords but the online auctioneer has set its issues aside and returned to the pay-per-click program.

“We are now slowly turning AdWords back on, in a much more limited way than before,” eBay said.

eBay said it will continue to work with Google, Yahoo, AOL, MSN and other of its potential partners so as to reach the potential buyers and accelerate the business.

Blast in Maharashtra, Gujarat

Jaipur, Gujarat, Bangalore, Delhi (twice) and now Maharashtra and Gujarat again. How safe is India?

The pattern of attack mirrored the one last Saturday in Mehrauli in Delhi. In both the cases, youth on motorcycles threw a plastic bag containing the low-grade explosives.

At least five persons, including a 15-year-old boy, were killed and 80 injured on Monday night as suspected terrorists set off bomb blasts in the communally-sensitive town of Malegaon in Maharashtra and Modasa town in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district.

After 10 years “Third” Founder of Google comes out of the Bush

Google truth, the truth of Google’s birth from googletruth on Vimeo.

Just as Google is celebrating its 10th anniversary, a man claiming to be the “third” founder of Google has come out to stake his claim to history. In the video above, a man calling himself Hubert Chang claims that as an NYU Ph.D student in 1997 he was introduced to Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin by Stanford professor Rajeev Motwani. He then helped the two come up with PageRank (the underlying algorithm that powers Google’s search engine), the name Google, and even the business plan.

So why wasn’t his name on the original PageRank paper? Because, he says, he decided to pursue his Ph.D instead. Then when he did finish his Ph.D n 2002 and contacted Google, he got the big brush off from Larry and Sergey’s handlers. (Surprise, surprise). Remember, boys and girls, always ask for a byline.

Is any of this true? I have no idea. It could be a hoax. But emails into professor Motwani, Google, and Hubert Chang asking for more details. By his own account, though, it sounds like Chang walked away from Google because he thought it wouldn’t amount to much. His mistake.

Orkut Degrading itself

Tonight while usual sign in to my orkut i saw Google Advertisements showing up below the communities section of my home page. I was surprised to check out the type of ad i was actually viewing & couldn’t believe that that a social networking site so popular like Orkut would be showing advertisements like this on a users home page. Orkut is degrading itself by showing up adult content based advertisements. It is really making orkut frustrated after the downfall. Since it is actually losing its control and war against facebook.

Orkut already is losing up its ranking realy fast on Alexa whereas facebook has proved itself again after orkut’s attempt to copy the features of Facebook. Facebook made a point that it is one step ahead of Orkut after launching of the fresh new design.

Hope the quality of ads on orkut will not go down to such an extent that in countries like India where it is very popular ultimately and was also voted as Youth Icon has to shut down.

This act of indecency will definately hurt the feelings of all Orkut lovers :-(
